How could a (reasonably) intelligent, fully-grown, adult, well-to-do, middle-aged male golfer possibly get himself involved in a wager for a massive amount of money (‘enough to buy a small house, or a good racehorse’) which he could not voluntarily lose, then proceed to lose it - and end up with it costing him nothing? Jammy Flaherty (‘he’d be pure evil if he wasn’t such an eejit’) could, and did, with some interesting consequences. Read on to find out more. This is my first novel and, although it is not very long (53K words in 21 chapters) it is beautifully formed. It is set, as usual, amongst the rolling sand dunes and pristine fairways of Lahinch, on the Atlantic coast of County Clare in the west of Ireland. Many of my usual (fictitious) characters turn up and the all-knowing, all-seeing (fictitious) Secretary/Manager is in sparkling form as he unwinds this tale of intrigue, drunkenness, s**, (there may be children in the house!) and gambling (on a massive scale) in this (formerly) idyllic Celtic village. He even gets personally involved on this occasion but so, unfortunately, does his beloved wife, with serious financial consequences for the poor, hard-working man who was, after all, only trying to put his insider knowledge to good use.
As yet, this book has won no awards, so I have nothing to boast about in that regard but I do hope that you enjoy this tale of further (fictious) goings-on in (the real) lovely Lahinch.

This was my second book by this author. I know Lahinch well and it certainly is a great place to play golf. I loved the story of the main character Jammy, his struggles and his rise to fame. The "goings on" around the golf club will be all all too famliar to those of you who love this game. The humour and wit is typical of the west of Ireland. I do think though the author spent a little too much time outlining in great detail some of the golf lessons.Product details
