Julia Kent writes another stomach-ach inducing funny novel in the Shopping for a Billionaire series. This time Declan tells the story from his Point of View it's still as hysterical but also has moments of terribly poignant memories. Declan, within his chapters breaks down the passage of time with Countdown of days till events and of events. Shannon has already undergone a transformation and is more secure in herself due, I'm sure, in part to Declan's love for her as well as her success at her job. Shannon's Mother, Marie, is present in all her Hurricane forced glory. But as whacked out as she is, she does have a really great, touching, and maternal scene. Conversely, Shannon's father, Jason, finally comes face to face with Declan's father, James ... hold on to your hats. Amy, Carol and her sons, Amanda and Andrew are all in attendance. Granted, Declan is a more serious character than Shannon with less patience so his storytelling is a little different - yet no less fun.
There are a couple of times when Declan seems somewhat overwhelmed - asking Andrew, his younger brother, to be his best man and the realization that Marie will be his Mother-In-Law. There comes a time when he has no one truly impartial he can talk to except his mother's headstone. It's these moments, when memories of Declan's mother and/or her death that are so beautifully heart-aching and offer a wonderful contrast to the typical crazy hijinks that run rampant in Shannon and Declan's story. The secondary story-line of Andrew and Amanda is incredibly intriguing as well. (Of course, I immediately purchased the next installment - GAH!) It results in some extra drama between Amanda and Andrew - putting Declan in the middle - which ends up leading to him playing a part in two versions of "Why Won't He Call/Why I Won't Call" pity parties ending in a brief but fantastic "Peep Show".

This novel is from my personal bookshelf, meaning, I paid for it. Therefore it is a honest review.
I enjoyed the previous books, they are really funny, Shannon is an endearing heroine, and the supporting cast has great depth. That the author shifts POV in this last novel doesn't work for me. It's well established that Declan adores Shannon but he can be an ass. In this novel, the asshood comes through loud and clear. Because although the books are raunchy, (but not crudely so) I found it so disappointing that Declan is so focused on sex. I felt like telling him to grow up. Trying to coerce Shannon into having sex at work because he's been away for three days, when she makes it plain that she doesn't want to cross the boundaries she has set came across less as lover like and more like the "manwhore' he used to be. A man who can't keep it zipped. Although his proposal did him proud. One other disappointment was that Jessica never got her comeuppance. That thread that ran through 6 books just petered out. On the plus side, Jason and James come into clearer definition and there are interesting back stories revealed.
All I can say is that every person who has written that their family thinks they are crazy when reading any of Julia Kent's books I can totally relate to !! I am a 60 year old RN of 40 years whose sense of humor is already over the top to begin with. I absolutely love everything she has written that I have read so far. I think the only series I have yet to complete is The Random Acts of Crazy set. But let me tell you,when Uncle Mike started to describe picking up one of the characters, I lost it!! I literally laughed sooo hard that I had to use my inhaler ( I am an asthmatic who is totally controlled with minimum meds!!) This billionaire series is one of the best things I have ever read. I started out reading Harlequin Romances that my Scottish Aunt got me hooked on at the tender age of 12. I have read soooo many novels. Julia Kent has this type of humor in her books that just gets me!! Like it is just rolling along and then BAM !! You are laughing hysterically and your 12 year old daughter is telling to be quiet because she can't sleep!!
I have spent a small fortune on all her books, but they are worth their weight in Gold, for sure. This novel was particularily crazy due to the wedding, etc!! I know just staring a Julia Jent novel, #1, I will love the story line, as I alrady have loved everyone so far, #2, I will laugh my ass off, and yes, I have had to use my inhaler for at least 3 of her books, I dont care!!, #3, She will leave me drooling for what is next!! I really do not care what the story line is about, I will read it and absolutely love it!!!
I do have to admit though, I am a little partial to the Complicated Series, I would love to see soem follow through with those 2 lovely characters!! AMadge is really my all time favorite of all of the Kent characters, I just love her. It is a good thing that I do not live any where near that diner, just listening to the description of the food..... devine and to die for!!
Thank you for this opportunity to write this review, I honestly cannot even think of one thing that I have ever not liked about any of her novels that I have read so far!! I just get antsy when I am near he end and I know there is not a next booj to follow!!!
